Renovation Update & Photos - September 2, 2003
This is some of the roof work being done over the library in the front house.
This is a picture looking from the dining room onto Russell Boulevard. A new header needed to be inserted to stabilize the roof above the dining room. Note the new windows in the dining room.
This is an outside view of the work on the roof above the dining room area.
A view from the storage area behind the kitchen (which is to the left). The roof above this area which connects the front and back houses needed to be almost completely replaced. You can see the new framing on the window. Much of the floor in this area had to be replaced because of dry rot and mold. The roof above is being rebuilt with a slight pitch to provide for improved drainage.
Brother Daniel Sedillo of The Sedillo Company, our contractor for this work, stands in the library area. The old wooden "bar" that was installed about 15 or so years ago was removed. This area will be replastered and painted. Note the old windows that are in the background. If we have sufficient funds we will try to replace these old windows.
This is one of the new sets of French doors in the chapter house. This is in the library (formerly the "bar") area. You can see how much better these doors look than the old windows seen to the right or those in the prior picture.

As you can see further progress is being made and the goal is still to have the overall improvements completed by September 28. In the next few days all the exposed walls will be sheetrocked and then plastered. The new kitchen cabinets will be installed and plumbing in the kitchen and downstairs front house bathroom will be connected.
